Privacy policy
ColletTool is a free reference site. There is no account to create, nothing to buy on this site, and no payment details are collected here. This page explains what little data is collected and what you can turn off.
Last updated: October 2026
What this site collects
Traffic statistics only. When you load a page, the site records which page was requested, the country or region of the visitor, the referring site and the type of browser. This is used to see which pages are useful and which are not. It is collected in aggregate — it is not used to identify you and it is not sold to anyone.
Standard web server logs record IP addresses and user-agent strings for a short period, as every web server does, for security and troubleshooting. Nothing else is stored about you.
Cookies
Depending on which analytics is enabled, one of two things happens:
- No cookies. Traffic measurement may be provided by Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is cookieless — it counts visits without storing anything on your device and without following you between sites.
- Analytics cookies. If Google Analytics is enabled, it sets cookies to distinguish returning visitors. Where required by law, these are only loaded after you accept the cookie notice.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings without affecting any part of this site — none of the reference tables or calculators need them.
Advertising
This site may display advertisements, including ads served by Google AdSense. Google and its partners use cookies to serve ads based on your previous visits to this and other websites — this is usually called interest-based or personalised advertising.
Specifically: Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your activity across the web. Third-party vendors, including Google, may also place cookies to measure ad performance.
How to opt out:
- Google Ads Settings — adssettings.google.com
- Industry opt-outs for participating companies — aboutads.info (US), youronlinechoices.eu (EU), youradchoices.ca (Canada)
- Opt out of personalised advertising in your Google account, or block third-party cookies in your browser
Opting out does not remove advertising — it makes the ads less relevant. Some ads on this site are placed directly by us or by our own brands; those do not involve third-party tracking.
Links to other sites
Reference pages link to shops where the products discussed can be bought. Once you leave this site, the destination's own privacy policy applies. We have no access to, or control over, what those sites do with your data.
Your rights
If you are in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, you have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal data held about you, and to object to processing. Because this site collects only aggregate traffic statistics and holds no accounts, there is normally no personal data tied to you to produce. If you believe otherwise, contact us using the address shown at the foot of this page.
If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what is collected, to request deletion, and not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights. This site does not sell personal information and does not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising beyond the advertising described above.
Contacting us
If you email us, we use your address and whatever you wrote for one purpose only: replying to you. We do not add you to a mailing list, and we do not pass your details on to anyone else.
Ads and downloads may in future be served by third parties; if that changes, this page will say so before it happens.
Children
This site is a technical reference for machinists and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information, contact us and it will be removed.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version is posted on this page with a new date. Material changes — such as turning on a new analytics tool — will be reflected here before they take effect.
